Pre-K Graduation

This cutie graduated from preschool today. Where does the time go?

Here she is with her awesome teachers.

They did the pledge of allegiance, some cute songs, and then got their little diplomas. You can see the picture Elena painted of herself behind her.

Our little graduate.

She made a book called "When I grow up." Here's what it says:

"When I grow up, I want to be a mom that goes to school and teaches people. I will make a lot of money and make milk for the baby."
(That's my favorite part!)
Here's the picture she drew for that page. Notice the little baby she's holding.

It goes on to say, "I will get married and have 3 kids. I will wear my mom's wedding dress."
"I will live in a house with hay for a bed."
"I will drive a van. My husband will drive a van too."
"I will go on vacation to Disneyland because I love the Cars ride."

I love reading those kinds of things. Kids are so funny.

Here's Elena with a friend from her class.

The kids enjoyed the cupcakes afterward.

And Elena enjoyed having the gown to dress Samuel up in later.

I can't believe she's done with preschool! We have a kindergartener on our hands!

Catch-up for May

I can't believe it's almost June. The baby will be here before we know it, and we're all really excited to meet our new addition. A lot went on in May. Here are some of the things I managed to get pictures of.

(This picture was actually taken at the end of April)

I just took these tonight . . . kids loving on my baby belly. I took the shots from above.

 Mother's day was special.

I like how Elena put that I work at "the dishes at home." She's right, I spend a lot of time at the sink.

Our garden's looking good, I've put in a lot of flowers and our plants have taken off. My favorite things that we've added, though, are our blueberry bushes.

They're starting to ripen, and they're delicious.

Yesterday we were able to pick a lot of them. Elena and I gobbled them up pretty quickly; Samuel won't try them.

Samuel's slowly entering into potty-training. He can go in the toilet, but then seems to go a tiny bit at a time, so we end up making numerous trips in an hour to the bathroom. He'll catch on eventually. Isn't the hair adorable, though? That's what he looks like in the mornings.

Samuel likes to play with Jorge's phone, even though there's no game open, just a screen asking for him to enter a code to unlock. The phone usually gets locked for awhile after Samuel's had it and entered incorrect codes.

The kids love playing in the sandbox.

Late night activities. Samuel's always in the best mood at night when he should be winding down. He's all energy and laughter.

Elena's such a daddy's girl. She's always asking when Jorge will be home, talking about how much she misses him, and then she just wants to snuggle with him. She asks him to take her on dates on the weekends. She loves having quality time with her daddy.

Samuel's into superheroes now, even though he hasn't watched any of the shows or movies. But he has seen the opening song for the 1960's spiderman. He loves the characters.

I can't believe that in less than a month (most likely), we'll have a new member in our family. Each pregnancy seems to be a little harder than the last. She's really low in my belly, which is uncomfortable at times, and really painful at others. But I've had no complications so that's been great. I know Elena's going to love having a baby around, and she'll be a big help. We're pretty close to the waiting game!

Soccer

The kids did a season of soccer. Initially I was just going to enroll Samuel, but Elena really wanted to try it out, so I signed her up, too. They both really enjoyed it; Samuel actually loves it.

Jorge did the parent/child class with Samuel at the same time as Elena's class, so I would go to her part of the field and watch her.

Elena's going to take this season off and do a gymnastics/fitness class--mostly while Jorge is on family leave after the baby comes--and Samuel is going to do another soccer class earlier in the mornings. We have to beat the heat over here because it gets pretty miserable later in the summer days.

Kite Flying

It seems like all of Elena's classmates have spring birthdays; we've had some busy Saturdays lately. At one of the party's, she won a Pin the Nose on Olaf game and got a Frozen kite as a prize. She'd been waiting to fly it, and this day we had beautiful weather, and some wind, so we headed over to the park.

Jorge always does the kite flying. I sit on the sidelines and enjoy the nice weather. Besides, I'm pretty pregnant now and can't keep up with them.

After awhile Samuel came and sat on my lap. The white in the lower left corner of the picture is my belly. My lap's gotten a little smaller.

The kids had fun exploring when they lost interest in the kite. They're such good little buddies.

And then out for frozen yogurt after. We get frozen yogurt a lot on the warm weekend days.

That's how our spring started. We've had a couple of really hot days, but it will only be hotter in the summer so we can't complain. When summer starts, we'll have a new little family member joining us.
